I love zombie movies, and one of my favorite is without a doubt 28 Days Later. That film and its sequel, 28 Weeks Later are just amazing. Seriously. Alex Garland, the screenwriter for the first film, is absolutely a brilliant writer (if you haven’t read any of his books, go do that NOW). The rumor has been brewing for some time now that a third film in the franchise was going to happen. While nothing is confirmed, it seems like it is more likely than ever. I’m over at Cinema Blend talking about it. I hope you’ll join me over there!
Here’s a sneak peek at the article:
It looks like we may have not seen the last of the Rage Virus after all! It has been quite a while since we were last treated to one of Alex Garland’s viral/zombie thrillers, but according to Garland, he is actually in the middle of serious negotiations with Danny Boyle and Andrew Macdonald regarding a third installation in the series, to be called 28 Months Later. Yes, please!
Garland himself penned the original script to 28 Days Later, and while he passed the script-writing torch for the film’s sequel, 28 Weeks Later, he did executive produce. As he tell IGN, if 28 Months Later becomes a reality, he will likely pass off the script-writing duties again and take up the helm as executive producer. But from what Garland says, an idea is in place:
“We’ve just started talking about it seriously. We’ve got an idea. Danny [Boyle] and [producer] Andrew [Macdonald] and I have been having quite serious conversations about it so it is a possibility.”
