I’m super proud of my nails this week, mainly because I really didn’t plan anything out. It was just geeky, manicure serendipity that my nails turned out this way. As I was in the middle of painting my nails–nothing fandom related, just painting them–and I decided I wanted to try to recreate the S.H.I.E.L.D logo.
I knew it would be a bit tough, but after last week’s dragon shout nails, I felt up to the challenge. Here’s the thing. I have found that I often struggle with getting a design on my nails because I tend to keep my nails super short. To combat this, I’ve started using Kiss Salon Natural Length Nails–fake, glue-on nails, essentially. They are super cheap, they come with a ton of sizes, and there is no acrylic required. The glue makes sure the nails stay put, but when I inevitably decide that I can’t stand typing with long-ish nails anymore, they’re easy to yank off.
Note: Yeah, I tend to yank fake nails off–acrylic and glued on nails. I highly discourage you from doing that. Pinterest has some better, safer ways to remove acrylic nails, and this video tutorial can tell you how to remove glue-on nails. Their method is far safer, healthier, and less painful than mine. ANYWAY…
So if you’re like me and have tiny nails, the glue-on nail route is a great way to go if you want to give yourself a bit of extra nail space. Apart from the fake nails, here’s what I used:
The black polish was a late addition. I added them because my white lines were a little screwy and inconsistent, so I lined them with the black glitter polish to make it seem a bit more slick. I’m pretty happy with how it all turned out.
Like I said, I didn’t set out to do fandom nails, so I initially just had the one. generic accent nail. However, even though it isn’t Marvel or S.H.I.E.L.D-related, I think having a second accent nail balances out the look.
