5 Fandom Friday: Fictional Vehicles I’d Love To Travel In

Fiction has some of the coolest modes of transportation, some more realistic than others. So this week for Fandom 5, I’m talking about those vehicles I wish I could take for a spin.

I mean, of course. How could any self-respecting Whovian not want to take the TARDIS out for a spin? Heck, this thing is so awesome that I think even non-Whovians would get a kick out of travelling in a bigger-on-the-inside police box through space and time.

The Delorean

Maybe the Delorean doesn’t have the travel capabilities as a TARDIS, but you can’t beat a time machine that looks like your basic car from the eighties that is capable of travelling through time provided you just gun it up to 88 mph. The Delorean is a no-fuss time machine, and I’m all about keeping my time travelling adventures chill.

The Impala/Baby/The Mettalicar

Sure, I could ride in an Impala any day of the week (provided I had access to one, I guess). But I want to ride in the Winchester’s Impala. If there isn’t an Army man stuffed in the ashtray, Legos jammed in the vent, SW and DW carved into the floor, and a Devil’s trap and a small arsenal in the trunk, I’m not interested…though I’ll probably Instagram a pic with it.

I can’t imagine how motion sick I’d get riding around in a spaceship like this, but if I was given the opportunity to board the Serenity with Mal and his crew, you bet your gorram life I’d take him up on that offer. Maybe I could get in the TARDIS and travel to the Serenity juuust before Wash utters these words:

leaf on the wind

Hogwart’s Express

hogwarts express

Everything about Hogwart’s is magical, from the very arrival to the train’s platform. I’ll be honest though, one of the main reasons I’d like to take a genuine ride on the Hogwart’s Express wouldn’t so much be the train ride itself (though the pleasant train ride through the English countryside would probably be gorgeous), but the anticipation of knowing that Hogwart’s was waiting to welcome me home.

What fictional vehicles would you love to take for a spin? Let me know in the comments! Be sure to check out my other Fandom 5 posts, and follow the #Fandom5 hashtag to see what everyone else is talking about today!

  1. Great list! I have three of your five on mine as well. And I’m totally kicking myself for not thinking of the Impala. WHERE was my brain yesterday?

  2. Oh gosh the Impala! What a assbutt how could I forget the Impala? If you need someone to ride shotgun I’ll shut my cake hole and listen to your music!

    1. I feel like that’s just the curse of the Fandom 5, always realizing the thing you totally should have put on your list. Ha! I feel like every week I read other posts and I’m like, “Oh…that was a good one, why didn’t I pick that one?!”
