5 Fandom Friday: Fictional Pets I Want to Adopt

I have to admit, I have a pretty amazing pet. He’s a chiweenie (a real breed, yes, it’s a chihuahua/dachsund mix), and his name is Chaucer–you all know who Chaucer is, right?

English literature lessons that led to the nerdy naming of my dog aside, he’s a great dog. We rescued him from the pound when he was 5. He’d already been there for several weeks, so I shudder to think what would have happened to him had we not adopted him when we did. Happily, we DID adopt him, and now we have the most loving, goofy dog on the face of the earth.

chaucer and TARDIS

But I always have room in my heart to adopt ANOTHER pet (even if Chaucer doesn’t have any desire for a pet-sibling). So for my Fandom 5 post today, I’m listing those fictional pets I’d love to add to my family.

I know, I know, probably not the best pet to have around a small dog, but you can’t tell me that you can watch Game of Thrones without wishing for your own dragon. Besides, Drogon seems to be the one dragon of Daenerys’ three dragons who is still loyal to his mother, so if I became the Adopted Mother of Dragons I’m pretty sure I could convince him to NOT attack his puppy-brother. I mean, right?

This lizard is a bit more manageable in size. Pascal is the sweet lizard who sticks by Rapunzel’s side through it all. He’s small, brave, he’s a generally good sport in the face of Rapunzel’s antics, and he’s got a healthy amount of sass. Just my kind of pet.

a Direwolf

Sure, direwolves are pretty vicious creatures, but the Starks showed us that they can actually be incredibly loyal companions. Besides, I’d love to see Chaucer and his adopted direwolf brother going on adventures together.

Speaking of big, lovable dogs, I’d love to adopt Fang. He’s a giant dog, and he looks incredibly intimidating, but he’s really just a big gooey ball of love. He’d probably not fit in our apartment too well, but then again if he was happy in Hagrid’s hut, I’m sure he’d be okay with our apartment.

There is no way you can tell me that you didn’t want to scoop Dug up in your arms and take him home with you after watching the movie Up. He is the sweetest dog around, and his special collar that allows him to speak makes him even more adorable and lovable. I just love this fictional puppy so much.

  1. Great picks. I went with a more manageable dragon (Toothless), but I can see the appeal of a totally badass one.

And Chaucer is the cutest! Yay for pound puppies. (I have two, myself.)

    1. I was going to say Toothless too! I think that Toothless has the appeal of both dragon and dog. He’s a healthy blend of both! Great list. I will admit that I do not watch Game of Thrones, but both the dragon and dire wolf look like great potential companions.

  2. Awww Doug I was sooo close to listing him because how could you not love that face, I would love one of those “talking collars” for my dog but I’m pretty sure all he’d be asking me for was food lol xoxo

    1. I know what you mean! I’d love to put one on Chaucer, but we’ve built up such a personality for him I’d be a bit disappointed if he wasn’t as snarky in real life! 🙂

  3. Your puppy is so adorable! I know, really a dog, not a puppy, but he’s just so cute I always think puppy haha! Great list…I would love to have a lizard like Pascal!
